About Us
Our Hall family's North American story began with Icelandic immigrants who settled in the Red River Valley of northeastern North Dakota in the late 1800s. Drawn by the promise of fertile land and opportunity, they built lives rooted in hard work, family, faith, and community—values that continue to guide generations of Halls today.
For more than 75 years, J.G. Hall and Sons—now simply Hall's—has been part of the agricultural community in the region. Based in Hoople, North Dakota, Hall's grows and ships fresh red and yellow potatoes and also farms spring wheat, sugar beets, soybeans, and edible beans. Through changing seasons, evolving technology, and multiple generations of leadership, the farming business has remained in the family and continues to be a source of pride for cousins across the country.
About This Project
We created the Hall Family Cookbook to share more than recipes. It also offers a snapshot of our family's journey over the years, preserving a record of who we are, where we came from, and how we live life around the table.
This website expands on that mission. Here you will find hundreds of additional photos, stories, articles, and memories that capture both milestones and everyday moments. Together, the cookbook and website celebrate our deep roots and connections that continue to grow across the country.
Thank you for visiting our website. We hope our memories and recipes inspire connections around your table, too.
